Nerikomi Mug #1 in Sunset and Speckle

Nerikomi is a specialized Japanese art form that incorporates colored clay into a "fabric" made of clay and applied to or shaped into a hand-built piece of pottery. Patterns are created by stacking layers of colored porcelain to form a block. Layers are then shaved off the block and cut into a variety of patterns, which become a part of a slab of clay, and are shaped into a new clay vessel. It is an extensive process, but the end result can be spectacular. 

Nerikomi Mug #1 has diagonal layers of colored clay in the colors of a desert sunset, which are applied to a handbuilt mug and covered with a white speckled glaze. Holds approximately 12 ounces of liquid. Coned-shaped for easier filling and drinking. Food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
