Greek Amphora Vase #9 in Obsidian and Opal

Curvy vase in the shape of a Greek amphora. Composite construction: Base and shoulders are wheel-thrown and neck is thrown off the hump. It is a composite vase, in that the base and shoulder are thrown on the wheel, and the neck is thrown "off the hump" (shaped on top of a centered coned-up mound of clay). Coiled arms. All separate pieces are then combined together both on and off the wheel to create one vessel. Vase is large enough to hold a half dozen of flowers about the size of a rose. There is an interior ring at the base of the neck that helps to hold the flower arrangement in place. Vase would make a beautiful centerpiece on your dining room table.
